A cuisine full of flavour

As far as Pierre Bertranet, the owner and Michelin-starred chef, is concerned, nothing is more important than flavour. « Flavour is what you remember, 20 years later », he points out. Having watched and listened to a number of great chefs and members of the association of Best Workers in France before taking over the Moulin de la Gorce, he uses his skills, his technical mastery and his familiarity with the products he has used for years in the service of an original style of fine cuisine, full of flavour and of a high quality.

He believes in discretion and perfectionism as tools to bring out the best in his food, working at it to make the most of its texture and using seasonal products for maximum flavour and aroma. His aim is to offer guests of this Michelin-starred restaurant a cuisine which is authentic and demanding in its simplicity and lack of artifice.

Country elegance

The flames crackle in the vast fireplace of the DINING ROOM.

A very pleasant atmosphere is created in this part of the mill, where the exposed stonework of the Limousin and the beams remind us of the long history of the place, This is echoed by the antique pictures on the walls and the traditional furniture.

The tables are attractively set out, with porcelain from the manufacturer Raynaud and silver candlesticks on every table, while orange Hermès chairs fit perfectly into the ambience.

At the first ray of sunshine, make the most of the TERRACE on the edge of the pond.

There, in the shade of  the wide parasols, give yourself over to the pleasure of savouring the characterful cuisine of the award-winning chef. The temperature is pleasant, the bucolic setting is all one could wish for : enjoy  hare à la royale, pigs' trotters, scrambled eggs with truffles (when in season) or sweetbreads and round up your meal with a milk sorbet or succulent pastries stuffed with red berries ! And there are so many other delicious dishes to choose from !

A true moment of happiness to remember.

La Table du Moulin, rated « Bib gourmand » by the Michelin guide

A « bistronomic » cuisine

Bistrot at La Table du Moulin

Two words are inseparable as far as Pierre Bertranet is concerned : food and taste !

Under Pierre Bertranet's auspices, his second-in command, develops a « bistronomic » cuisine, full of character and flavour. The result is such gourmet dishes as « Salad with rolled calf's head and foie gras with a traditional mustard sauce », « Open sandwiches with pigs' trotters and grilled Parmesan », scallop risotto (when in season), veal cheeks, kidneys in salt crust … The traditional French culinary repertoire is in the spotlight !

The chef's desserts are equally hard to resist: chocolate fondant, five-spice crème brûlée, apple tart made with shortcrust pastry and Limousin apples, crêpe with pear filling...

An efficient style of cooking which gets down to the nitty-gritty, working with seasonal products and bringing out the flavour of each one.

A contemporary country bistrot

As soon as you cross the threshold of La Table du Bistrot, you are aware of its friendly atmosphere. From your table, you can watch the kitchen staff at work. In the dining-room, a lively bustle coexists with peaceful dining. A pleasant word, a smile, a ready ear … the true bistrot spirit at La Roche l'Abeille.

As for decoration, La Table du Moulin focuses on simple and authentic materials, reflecting its cooking style : wood, stone, white porcelain adapted to each dish ...
