Historic sites

  • Saint-Yrieix-la-Perche : 11 km. The town is listed among the « Most beautiful corners of France ». Collegiate church.
  • Coussac-Bonneval : 12 km. The château can be visited.
  • Pierre Buffière : 14 km. Superb 11th century church, with a number of modifications over the years.
  • Ségur-le-Château : 19 km. Listed among the most beautiful villages of France.
  • Chalus : 21 km. Richard the Lionheart was mortally wounded here in 1199
  • Limoges : 33 km. Not-to-be-missed national Porcelain museum. Museum of the Resistance (to be followed up with a visit to the martyr village of Oradour-sur-Glane ).
  • Uzerche : 32 km. Wander though the streets of this medieval village. Notice the little houses with carved doors, the 12th century church, the 14th century Tower of the Black Prince, the hospice and the chapel.
  • Saint-Léonard-de-Noblat : 33 km. Visit the 11th century abbey church and the Moulin du Got, a museum devoted to the history of paper-manufacturing.
  • Oradour-sur-Glane : 41 km. Martyr village from World War II. A place for quiet thought and remembrance.
